Unlike most private equity firms that assign individual partners the responsibility for the entire investment process on a transaction-by transaction basis, PVP employs an integrated team approach in which all professionals participate in the making of every investment and in supporting an investment post-funding. Each investment professional brings a unique set of skills and capabilities to a point of leverage at the portfolio company. In addition to Board of Director involvement, we service the following points of leverage for each portfolio company.

Business Development – Our partners have vast experience in structuring and designing complex transactions, including public and private growth equity financings, debt financings, acquisitions, strategic alliances, recapitalizations and restructurings, leveraging their experience from legal and capital markets backgrounds.

Financial Analysis – Although we are an early stage investor, we consider ourselves to have late-stage financial analysis capabilities. Our portfolio companies rely on us to perform financial projection, budgeting and other financial analyses and to create financial tools for them to better understand and manage their businesses. The combination of our technical skills and capital markets experience establishes a solid analytical framework for our early-stage companies.

Market/Product/Competition – We find that outstanding management teams know what they do not know. They often rely on us to help them find answers. We deploy the same research expertise that we use in evaluating new investments for the benefit of every portfolio company.

Recordkeeping – We often keep the books and records of our earlier stage companies. Relieving management of this function enables them to focus on building their business at the most critical, earliest stages of development. We employ the same recordkeeping standards to our portfolio company records as we do with our own internal accounts.

Strategic Planning – We believe that excellence in operations is an extension of excellence in planning. We conduct a strategic planning exercise prior to each new investment and offer annual strategic planning sessions to each portfolio company. We believe that strategic planning is critical to proper alignment of Management, Board and Investor objectives and value-creation efforts.
